Junior Network Engineer

We are seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support a network security improvement programme. The role will focus on implementing firewall changes, improving network segmentation, reducing unnecessary access, and assisting with vulnerability remediation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain firewall rule changes.
  • Support network segmentation projects across enterprise environments.
  • Review and optimise Access Control Lists (ACLs) to reduce lateral movement.
  • Apply least-privilege access principles to network connectivity.
  • Assist with remediation of network and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
  • Work with infrastructure and security teams to implement secure network controls.
  • Troubleshoot network access and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and VLANs.
  • Experience supporting firewall technologies such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, or Check Point.
  • Knowledge of network segmentation and ACL management.
  • Understanding of network security best practices and least-privilege principles.
  • Experience implementing network changes within a controlled environment.

  • CCNA, Network+, Security+ or similar certification.

This role will be predominantly remote with ad hoc travel to Manchester
