Job Title: Payments Analyst (Junior-Level)
Department: Payments
Location: London / Hybrid (UK-based)
Reports To: Head of Payments
About the Role
Join a fintech team as a junior Payments Analyst, ideal for someone with around 2 years’ experience in payment operations. You’ll support UK and EU payment schemes (such as Faster Payments, SEPA, Bacs, FX and SWIFT) and contribute to improving payment processes. This role focuses on operational support and documentation in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily payment processing (schemes such as Faster Payments, Bacs, SEPA, FX and SWIFT).
- Help resolve payment exceptions, failures or returns, working with internal teams or external providers.
- Support reconciliations between internal ledgers and banking reports.
- Maintain and update payments documentation such as simple process guides and workflow descriptions.
- Prepare regular payment activity reports (volumes, exceptions, costs).
- Work with Compliance and Risk supporting regulatory processes.
- Assist with testing activities tied to process changes or new payment features.

Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in payments operations or a related area (within fintech, banking, or regulated services).
- Familiarity with UK/EU payment schemes (Faster Payments, Bacs, SEPA, FX and SWIFT).
- Able to use Excel (formulas), Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in creating simple flowcharts via Microsoft Visio
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Methodical, organised, and detail‑oriented.
- Comfortable working in a fintech environment and handling changing priorities.

Nice to Have
- Basic Python/SQL skills or data tools for simple data tasks or reconciliation support.
- Awareness of ISO 20022, fraud prevention or indemnity/chargeback process.
- Experience liaising with banks or PSPs.
