Job Description

About the Role

To ensure a high standard, efficient, and effective physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and intervention for all patients for whom he/she is responsible. To assess and treat and manage one's own caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including the maintenance of comprehensive records. To work as an effective team member, communicating appropriately with patients, carers, and other team members as required. To supervise physiotherapy assistants and may be involved in teaching MDT staff. To undertake an evidence-based project throughout each rotation to further the clinical practice of self and the team, and to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities

  • To provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients on a designated caseload.
  • To use clinical reasoning to ensure the provision of evidence-based physiotherapy.
  • To attend multidisciplinary meetings, family meetings, and board rounds.
  • Ensure that physiotherapy management of a patient is integrated into the MDT management, treatment, and discharge plans.
  • To advise, guide, and delegate to physiotherapy assistants.
  • To support quality improvement and continuing professional development.
  • Establish good teamwork with physiotherapy colleagues and MDT.
  • Effective communication skills.

Rotational Scheme

This post is part of a 4-month rotational scheme including the following areas:

  • Musculoskeletal Outpatients
  • Orthopaedics trauma and elective
  • Elderly Rehabilitation
  • Acute and general Medicine
  • Respiratory including ICU and Surgery
  • Acute and Rehab Neurology

Duties within each rotation are delegated by the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for the area.
