Junior Product Designer
Reports to: Lead Product Designer
Location: Canary Wharf (Head Office), hybrid, 3 days a week in the office

The Role
We're looking for a world-class beginner: someone curious, passionate, and a student of the craft. You'll support product design across research, UX, UI, prototyping, and testing. Your Lead Product Designer will mentor you, alongside specialists in product, marketing, brand, and e-commerce. You'll learn this job by doing it, with people around you who want you to get good at it.
AI is already part of how we work, in research, in prototyping, in getting to an answer faster. What isn't settled is where it stops, and which parts of the craft still need a person: taste, visual judgement, pixel-level care. Starting out now means you get a say in that. You won't have the answers on day one, and we don't expect you to.

What You'll Be Doing (and Learning)
- Designing in Figma - wireframes, layout, typography, visuals, and interactive prototypes.
- Contributing to Frive's design system, and getting specs tight enough to build from.
- Running research and usability testing, turning what you find into something the team can act on.
- Sitting in design critiques. Learning to say when something isn't working and why, including when it came out of an AI tool.
- Iterating on your work from testing, analytics, critique, and feedback.
- Working with our engineers at handoff, so what gets built matches what you designed.
- Trying AI tools where they sharpen the work, and telling us honestly when they don't.
By the end of your first year, you'll have shipped features people eat their way through every week, run your own usability sessions, and left your mark on the design system.
About You
You're curious, and you make things. In your work, your coursework, or just because you wanted to, whether anyone asked or not.
This is a first or second design role. A job, an internship, a bootcamp, or a related field all count.

Your portfolio shows how you think, not just what you shipped.
You're comfortable in Figma and know the fundamentals - user-centred design, information architecture, usability.
You've made something with AI tools because you wanted to see what would happen. On the job, in a course, or just messing about. We're not after claimed AI expertise; we want evidence you experiment.
Nice to have:
- An interest in food, health, or nutrition. You don't need to be an expert, but caring about what we make helps.
- An eye for words. Button labels, empty states, error messages, the bits people read but don't notice.
- Comfort with numbers. Reading a funnel, or being curious why one screen converts better than another.
- Curiosity about how things get built - a bit of HTML/CSS, or just an interest in what happens after handoff.
- Graphic design skills. Brand, layout, composition, maybe some illustration or motion. Handy in a team where design crosses product and marketing.
