Junior Recruitment Consultant

Kane Selection

Location: Horsforth, Leeds

Working pattern: Hybrid (on-site during probation)

Hours: Full-time

Salary: £24,250 to £27,000 basic, plus uncapped commission with no threshold; you earn from your first fee, not after clearing a target

About Us

We're a Leeds-based recruitment firm with a North American client base. Kane Selection specialises in North American construction, heavy equipment, and construction technology, and we're growing.

The Role

This is a phone-led role. You'll spend most of your day on outbound calls to candidates who aren't expecting to hear from you, and in time to clients who don't yet know who we are. Being comfortable picking up the phone matters more here than anything on your CV.

It's also a proper training role. You'll learn recruitment through structured onboarding, live delivery, and daily support from consultants who bill. Responsibility increases as your capability does.

Our clients are across North America, so on some days your hours shift later rather than getting longer. That starts after your first few weeks of training, and we'll work the pattern out around you.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We're Not

We don't run leaderboards or gongs. We do measure activity, and you'll always know your own numbers. There's a difference between a demanding job and an unpleasant one, and we've worked hard to be the first without being the second.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Outbound calling to source, qualify, and manage candidates
  • Conducting phone and video interviews
  • Sourcing via job boards, LinkedIn, and direct approaches
  • Cold and warm business development calls as you progress
  • Building candidate relationships that hold up over years, not weeks
  • Writing and posting job adverts
  • Keeping the CRM accurate and up to date

What We're Looking For

  • Takes a rejection on the chin and is still hungry for the next win
  • Clear communicator, on the phone and in writing
  • Organised enough to manage a busy call list and follow through on it
  • Comfortable talking to anyone, from site managers to CEOs
  • Genuinely curious about the industry and willing to learn it properly

A background in telesales, call centres, or customer service is a real advantage — it's where several of our strongest consultants started. If you haven't got it, that's not a barrier.

This Probably Isn't for You If

  • You'd rather not spend most of your day on the phone
  • You need a fixed nine-to-five with no flexibility
  • You're after an admin or resourcing role rather than a consultant one
  • You'd prefer to email than call

What You Get

  • Uncapped commission with no threshold, from day one
  • Structured onboarding and hands-on training
  • Daily coaching from consultants who are billing, not just managing
  • A clear route to full Recruitment Consultant
  • Hybrid working after a successful probation
  • A professional setup focused on doing the job properly
  • No ceiling on progression; we promote on billing and capability, not time served

Quality delivery, strong relationships, and professional standards come first. If that sounds like the kind of place you'd do well, apply below.
