Junior Relationship Manager

HSBC Private Bank is looking for a Junior Relationship Manager to help grow our UK Private Banking franchise through acquisition and coverage of clients with a strong Asian nexus. You’ll focus on HNW clients (typically USD 5m+ investable assets) and, where appropriate, UHNW clients (USD 50m+), originating new business primarily via your external network across Investment AUM, Lending and Advisory.

Key responsibilities

  • Originate new business and grow revenue by increasing AUM and net new money (NNM) through your external referral network.
  • Manage and develop client relationships, maintaining regular client contact and meetings.
  • Support clients’ portfolio management: partner with Investment Specialists to deliver suitable portfolio allocation and ongoing reviews aligned to objectives and risk appetite.
  • Identify and deliver lending opportunities with Credit Specialists, covering both secured and unsecured lending needs.
  • Identify financial planning needs and introduce clients to the Wealth Planning team where appropriate.
  • Maintain strong risk and control discipline: follow KYC/CCR requirements, comply with UK regulatory standards and cross-border marketing guidelines, and promptly action audit/regulatory requests.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
