About M E Solar Ltd

M E Solar Ltd is an award-winning renewable energy company specialising in the installation and maintenance of solar panel systems, battery storage solutions, and EV chargers for homeowners and businesses. We are MCS accredited, NICEIC registered.

We are a small, close-knit team that takes pride in providing honest, technical advice without sales pressure. We guide every customer clearly through the process, from initial consultation to completed installation, and we hold ourselves to very high standards in both our work and our customer relationships.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and organised Junior Renewables Assistant to support our growing team across both office-based and on-site activities. This is a varied role that includes administrative office work as well as on-site work assisting the engineers. The role is suited to someone who is practical, reliable, and keen to develop a career in the renewable energy sector, project management or business development. A full UK driving licence is essential, as the role involves regular travel to project sites and suppliers.

No prior experience in renewables is required. We will provide full training and support for the right candidate however some computer literacy is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Administration

  • Completing and submitting DNO (Distribution Network Operator) notifications and G99 applications
  • Assisting with building regulations paperwork and MCS documentation
  • Supporting general office administration as required

Procurement and Supplier Liaison

  • Ordering solar panels, inverters, battery storage units, fixings, and ancillary equipment
  • Communicating with suppliers to confirm lead times, deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies
  • Maintaining equipment stock levels

Onsite work

  • Greeting customers professionally at their home or business during installation visits
  • Representing M E Solar Ltd's values at all times — honest and respectful of the customer's property at all times
  • Escalating any concerns or technical questions to a senior team member promptly

Project Preparation and On-Site Support

  • Preparing materials and equipment ahead of installation days
  • Assisting the installation team on site with panel handling, cable management, and general support tasks as required
  • Learning installation processes with a view to developing technical skills over time

Waste Management

  • Sorting, separating, and correctly disposing of waste materials in line with recycling and environmental guidelines
  • Ensuring sites and storage units are kept clean and organised.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • A confident, polite, and professional manner when dealing with customers face to face
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Organised and methodical approach to administrative tasks
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
  • Manual handling is part of the job so must be able to lift equipment and materials and willing to work outdoors and at height (training provided)
  • Attention to detail, particularly when handling documentation and packing materials

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an administrative, trade support, procurement, or customer-facing role
  • Experience working on construction site or similar environment
  • Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, or the construction sector
  • Basic IT skills (email, spreadsheets, document management)
  • Willingness to work towards relevant qualifications (e.g. Working at Heights, Solar PV)

  • Pay scales align with youth/apprentice minimum wage bands (£12.71/hr for ages 21 or over, £10.85/hr for ages 18–20 & £8.00/hr for under 18)
