Company: Scope Group
Employment: Full-Time
Level: Junior Consultant through to Senior Consultant
Sector: Quantum Computing, Quantum Technology & Photonics
About Scope
Scope is a specialist recruitment business operating at the heart of the global quantum technology market.
We partner with 35+ companies across the quantum ecosystem, from ambitious venture-backed start-ups through to some of the world's leading and publicly traded quantum technology companies.
Our clients are developing technologies across quantum computing, quantum error correction, neutral atoms, trapped ions, photonics, quantum sensing, quantum software and enabling hardware.
We recruit internationally across the UK, Europe, US and Asia, working directly with founders, CTOs, VPs and technical leaders to identify highly specialised scientists, engineers and commercial talent.
We're now looking to grow our own team.
We're open to people at two different stages: Junior Recruitment Consultants looking to build a career in specialist recruitment, and experienced Recruitment Consultants who want to move into one of the fastest-developing deep-tech markets globally.
The Opportunity
This isn't high-volume recruitment.
You'll learn a highly technical market, build relationships with some of the strongest people in the quantum ecosystem and become a genuine specialist within your area.
You'll be responsible for developing both the candidate and client side of your market, ultimately building a network that includes scientists, engineers, founders, CTOs, investors and senior industry leaders.
For junior hires, no recruitment or quantum experience is required. We're looking for the underlying attributes and will teach you recruitment, headhunting and the market.
For experienced consultants, we're looking for people who can bring strong recruitment fundamentals and want the opportunity to develop a highly valuable specialist desk.
What You'll Be Doing
- Headhunting highly specialised scientists, engineers and technology leaders globally.
- Building long-term relationships with passive candidates who are rarely actively applying for jobs.
- Learning complex areas of quantum technology and becoming credible when speaking with technical candidates and clients.
- Working directly with founders, CTOs, VPs and hiring leaders at quantum companies.
- Managing recruitment processes from initial search through to offer and placement.
- Developing new client relationships and expanding existing accounts.
- Mapping emerging companies, technologies and talent pools.
- Advising clients on talent availability, compensation and competitor hiring activity.
- Attending industry conferences and building your presence within the global quantum ecosystem.
- Developing your own specialist market and, with progression, taking increasing ownership of client relationships and revenue.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
We're interested in people who are ambitious, competitive, commercially minded and genuinely curious.
For junior hires, you may have recently finished sixth form or university and be looking for a career where your progression and earnings are closely connected to your performance.
An interest in technology, current affairs, business or sport is a strong cultural fit. You don't need to arrive knowing quantum mechanics, but you do need to be someone who wants to understand what is happening in the world and can become obsessed with learning a market.
We're particularly interested in people who are:
- Tenacious – recruitment involves rejection; you keep going.
- Competitive – you want to perform and improve.
- Money motivated – you want your earnings to increase significantly as you become successful.
- Curious – you're interested in technology, businesses and people.
- Confident communicators – you're comfortable picking up the phone and building relationships.
- Commercially minded – you can understand what motivates both candidates and clients.
- Self-driven – you don't need someone constantly telling you what to do next.
- Ambitious – you want to build something rather than simply have a job.
For the Senior Consultant level, we're additionally looking for a proven track record in recruitment, headhunting or business development. Previous quantum experience isn't essential.

- Work in a genuinely specialist market.
- Rather than recruiting generic roles across hundreds of companies, you'll develop expertise in one of the most technically advanced talent markets in the world.

- Career progression.
- As you develop, you'll have the opportunity to own a market, grow key accounts and ultimately help build and lead teams within Scope.
Who This Could Suit
- Junior: Someone leaving sixth form or university who is competitive, articulate, hungry to earn and wants to get into technology without becoming an engineer themselves.
- Experienced: A recruiter who has already demonstrated they can build candidate and client relationships and now wants to specialise in a high-growth, technically complex market with significant international potential.
You do not need an existing background in quantum technology.
You do need the drive to learn it.
If you want to build a recruitment career while working with companies and people developing technologies that could fundamentally change computing and science, we'd like to hear from you.
