ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Junior SEO Executive will create clear, compelling, data-focused content to drive organic traffic and support our clients' marketing strategies. From website pages and landing copy to SEO content and brand of voice development, you will be responsible for delivering and driving content that not only sounds good but actually performs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
SEO Content Writing:
- Effectively follow, understand and apply briefs for clients in line with their portfolios whilst also applying the Z Agency brand and guidance.
- Develop a clear, strong understanding of each client's products, competition, industry, marketing goals and core objectives.
- Write SEO-optimising content including blog posts, articles, guides and resource pages and upload content to platforms, alongside supporting imagery.
- Adapt to/develop an appropriate tone of voice for each client and ensure consistency across all channels.
- Ensure all content is grammatically correct whilst reflecting the client's style and objectives for each piece. Applying commercial awareness and client focus for the direction of the content.
- Conduct thorough research and perform competitor analysis to ensure authentic copy.
- Write SEO-optimising content including blog posts, articles, guides and resource pages and upload content to platforms, alongside supporting imagery.
- Lead keyword and topic research to identify content opportunities and gaps, applying effective tools (Semrush, Ahrefs, Moz, GA4, GSC) to support this.
- Structure articles for both readability and SEO: clear headings, scannable formatting, internal and external linking, and appropriate keyword density.
- Monitor keyword rankings and organic performance, track content performance and identify potential content gaps.
- Source, utilise and translate data to support strategic thinking and recommendations.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand tone, voice, and SEO best practices.
- Use AI tools to support (not replace) content creation, ensuring all outputs are reviewed, fact-checked, and aligned with brand tone before publishing.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging content marketing strategies.

Client & Time Management:
- Conduct performance analysis so it can be presented to clients clearly and confidently.
- Proactively flag scope creep, unclear briefs, or unrealistic timelines before they become problems.
- Accurately record time against client work on a daily basis, ensuring time-tracking reflects actual effort and supports accurate client billing.
- Plan and prioritise workload across multiple concurrent client projects to hit deadlines without compromising quality.
- Provide honest, timely status updates on work in progress, working closely with other stakeholders within the business to resolve blockers collaboratively and optimise the experience and service for our clients.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Education or experience in journalism, English language/literature, or a related field.
- 1+ years' experience writing SEO-focused content in an agency environment with direct client exposure. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
- A solid understanding of SEO fundamentals and how content supports organic growth.
- A working knowledge of uploading content into a website’s CMS.
- Ability to analyse content performance.
- Confident using time-tracking/project management tools and comfortable with the discipline of accurate daily time recording and time management.
- Strong communication skills, with a track record of flagging risks and blockers early and clearly.
- Experience working with CMS platforms, analytics tools, and marketing automation software, including Ahrefs, Keyword Finder, Wincher, and Google Analytics.
- Experience and responsible use of AI search tools and an interest in how they're changing content strategy.
- Confident liaising directly with clients and colleagues across all divisions, including at a senior/stakeholder level.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
