Job Title: Band 5 Junior Service Manager

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Band 5 Junior Service Manager to support the Group 9 Service Managers.

The post holder will manage and coordinate the medical workforce, oversee rota planning, and ensure theatre schedules and outpatient clinics are delivered efficiently to meet clinical demand. The post holder will work closely with Finance, HR, and Medical Staffing to reconcile expenditure and ensure accurate pay. The role also involves producing performance reports and action logs for service line and executive meetings, supporting waiting list and capacity management, and acting as a key point of contact for consultants and secretarial staff. This position requires excellent communication, strong IT and data skills, and the ability to problem-solve day-to-day operational issues in a busy acute healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Service Managers and clinical service lines on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing and coordinating the medical workforce within the Group 9 specialties.
  • Work alongside the medical staffing team to ensure all levels of medical rotas meet service need.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust systems and processes for managing the medical workforce within Group 9.
  • Manage the review and approval of timesheets and extra duty claims.
  • Work with finance and human resources to regularly reconcile actual to planned expenditure and to ensure accurate payment of medical staff.
  • Development and maintenance of action logs for executive service line reviews and service line business meetings.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the Theatre schedule within the group specialties.
  • Maintain service delivery timetables to ensure all clinical requirements can be met.
