This role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by providing interactive and practical learning within the Trust as a part of the wider medical educational team. The post holder will work closely with senior education colleagues to ensure that simulation & clinical skills learning meets national standards, core standards, is curriculum based and meets the needs of patients, trainees, staff and local healthcare providers, services run smoothly and efficiently.

Main duties of the job

• Day to day supervision of Simulation & Clinical Skills Technician to maintain an effective service.
• Supervision of a safe learning environment for session/course attendees.
• Responsible for supervision and feedback for groups of learners.
• Provide clinical skills training across the Trust and when required, with local and regional partners. Delivery of learning should be in line with relevant curriculums and responsive to changes to local and national policies.
• Provide facilitation of immersive simulation-based simulation education across the Trust.
• Ensure the smooth facilitation and appropriate use of clinical skills and immersive simulation facilities, in accordance with the Trusts Health & Safety policy and standards.
• Prioritise the implementation of suitable learning programmes in Simulation & Clinical Skills for medical, nursing and allied health professional staff.
• Collate information on attendance and evidence of achieved competence in order to audit and review the success of undergraduate clinical skills learning programmes.
• Co-design & development and delivery of training sessions to meet the specific requirements of clinical groups involved of the Trust.
• Provide constructive feedback to candidates throughout clinical skills and simulation-based educational programmes.
• Plan and meet the required learning needs of candidates who require additional support, providing advice and feedback to the learner and their clinical supervisors / line managers as appropriate.
• Ensure evaluation forms are completed at the end of each training session and that any resulting information relating to either the structure or delivery of teaching is acted upon.
• Support the development & facilitation of a programme of clinically-focussed / skills training for new doctors at induction.
• Develop specialist interprofessional learning initiatives to meet specific requirements of pre-registration nursing students, AHPs, newly qualified nurses, overseas nurses, post registration nurses and Student Physician Associates.
• Influence & co-facilitate tailored learning among Nursing and AHP groups to maintain maintenance of skills ensuring that their skills and abilities meet National & Trust professional standards.
