About the Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking AI Enabled Junior Engineers to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6-12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh.
Our client is seeking talented and ambitious early-career engineers to join a next-generation engineering environment focused on AI-assisted software delivery.
This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology, eager to learn, and excited by the opportunities AI presents within software engineering.
Success in this role will be driven by curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace modern engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of software applications.
- Support the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and quality.
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and delivery teams.
- Develop skills in modern software development and DevOps practices.
- Continuously learn and adopt new technologies and delivery approaches.

About You
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
- Computer Science graduate.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
- Familiarity with source control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of testing principles and development best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI tools.
- Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Understanding of prompt engineering techniques.
- Experience with cloud platforms or DevOps tooling.
