Build AI Agents that Make Real Businesses More Money
About the Role
Build AI agents that make real businesses more money. Week one, yours goes live with a paying client and us sitting next to you.
If you like building with AI.
If you find business interesting.
If you want your own thing one day.
Then we think this position is perfect for you.
Our focus is AI agents, automations and custom software that increase sales for businesses doing millions a year.
You don't need to be an expert. We want you to have agency and ownership of your work with a willingness to give everything a go but we're here to support.
What You'll Do
- Week one you'll ship something to a live client, with us next to you.
- Month one you'll be able to speak to business owners, working out how AI can increase sales.
- By month three you'll be able to build full agents that people run daily.
- By month six you could do the whole thing without us.
Job Details
- It's a six-month contract to start, because that's what we can commit to right now. We think it extends. We can't promise it does.
- Full time
- £41,600 a year (£800/week)
- Remote in the UK (need right to work)
- At least one day per month in London.
Responsibilities
- You'll ship things that have real impact on businesses
- None of it is practice.
- Improve the Hermes agents our clients run every day. New skills, better prompts, fewer failures. A quote follow-up that goes out at 7am without anyone remembering to send it.
- Write new pages and features for our products. Next.js and TypeScript. The screens a salesperson opens every morning: what to quote, who to chase, what to send them.
- Talk to customers and work out what they need. On a call with a business owner or their sales team, finding where they're losing money. You'll be able to formulate the plan, not the notes.
- Connect systems that were never meant to talk. CRMs, email, WhatsApp, accounting software, ad platforms, spreadsheets.
- Turn a weekly manual job into something that just happens. It usually starts as a spreadsheet and someone who's fed up with it.
- Monitor what you ship, then make it better. Did the messages get replies? Did the quotes convert? Is anyone actually using it? Real businesses depend on this once it's live.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Requirements
- You already build with AI. That's most of what we need.
- You don't need to have 2+ years of experience in anything. Most of what we use isn't even that old. You just need to already be curious and keen to get stuck in and learn.
- You've driven a coding agent far enough to watch it go wrong. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, whichever. You've at least used them enough to know what they can do.
- You can put a small site live. We use Next.js, TypeScript and Postgres. If you don't know them yet, AI and a few weeks will get you there, and we'll help.
- You find business interesting. Not an expert. Interested. You notice when a company is leaving money on the table and you have an opinion about why.
- You'd rather make a sensible first attempt than wait to be told. And you ask before anything that would be expensive to undo.
- You finish things. Including the boring last ten percent, which is where most people stop.
- You can get to London one day a month.
What We Offer
- In six months you'll be able to do all of this, without us.
- The paycheque is half of what you'll get here. Here's the other half.
- Build agent systems that survive contact with a real customer. Not a demo. Something a business runs on Monday morning and rings you about when it breaks. The pool of people who can do this well right now is small.
- Sit in front of a business owner and find the money. The rarest half of this job, and the half that keeps paying you for the rest of your career.
- Leave with proof and two people in your corner. If we can't extend, or you want to move on, we'll put real effort into getting you somewhere good. References, introductions, whatever helps.
About Us
We're engineers who write the code and talk to the customers.
We aren't salesmen outsourcing the work. We write the code, design the architecture and answer the phone.
There are two of us, and that's the whole company. Alex maintains Stripe's official Rust integration and worked at Vercel and Meta. Sean has spent seven years shipping production software, from startups to FTSE 100s. We met studying Computer Science in Edinburgh and we both left well-paying jobs at big companies to do this instead.

So far we've built:
- A self-serve quote engine for one of Scotland's biggest boiler installers, helping them compete against the VC-backed Boxt.
- Reactivation agents that messaged 4,000 dormant customers for a client and won £60k of work back.
- QR code equipment management for a gym servicing company, allowing them to scale work with less admin time.
- Right now: a sales engine for high-ticket SMBs, a WhatsApp assistant connecting sole traders to their accountant, Hermes agents for businesses doing millions a year, and a contract with a FTSE 100 company setting up outbound sales at scale. You'll work on most of this.
Working Conditions
Small team with no manuals and no guarantee of stability.
Every job has a list of downsides. Most of them don't print it.
Some of this has no manual. Parts of what we do are new enough that nobody has written the guide yet. We can tell you what we've tried and how we'd think about it. We can't always tell you the right answer.
It's six months, and we're not going to dress that up. We have the funding and the income for it, and we hope the work makes the case to extend. But we can't promise that.
There are two of us. No onboarding programme, no learning budget, no team to hide behind on a bad week.
The work moves. Several clients and two products means we can't put you on one thing and leave you there.
If that list put you off, we'd rather you found out now than in week three. If it did the opposite, you're the person we're looking for.
Application Process
- Fifteen minutes to apply. Simple hiring process.
- Applications close 4 September.
- Four steps, and we'll give you a response even if it's a no or not right now.
- Apply through the button above. It's a short form on our site, about 15 minutes. No CV needed, the form is the application.
- Take-home. We'll send a realistic exercise to people we'd like to see more of. It's built to take 45 minutes to complete, and you'll have a week to fit it in. Use AI. We'd think less of you if you didn't.
- Interview. We'll go through your take-home, then change part of the problem and work on it together.
- Start. As soon after that as you're available.
