About the Role
I'm working with a VC-backed consumer social company building the next generation of a category-defining product, backed by top-tier US and European investors. Small, elite, highly technical team — no bureaucracy, no dead weight.
They're hiring an exceptional early-career Software Engineer. This isn't a "years of experience" or "framework checklist" role — it's about how you think, how fast you learn, and whether you can go deep on hard problems.
What they're looking for:
- Ideally 1–2 years' experience, but exceptional graduates will be considered
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals — not just working code, but code that holds up
- Tech agnostic: the stack is Rust, Swift and TypeScript/Node.js, and experience in any of these will help significantly, but they're hiring the engineer first, the stack second
- Genuinely AI-native — not "I use Copilot for autocomplete," but someone using AI tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, custom agents/workflows) to expand what they're capable of building and shipping
- Strong research instincts: able to take an unfamiliar, hard-to-conceptualise engineering problem, work it from first principles, and turn genuine understanding into working software — a research mindset, not just a "prompt and ship" one
- Comfortable moving across mobile, backend, internal tooling and infrastructure
- Evidence of curiosity beyond assigned tickets — open source, dev tooling, ambitious side projects, independent research
- A real interest in consumer product and social technology, not just engineering for its own sake
