Junior Software Engineer – eCommerce
£40,000 – £50,000 + bonus
Manchester / Trafford Park – 4 days onsite
My client is a fast-growing, international eCommerce business continuing to invest heavily in its technology and engineering capability.
They’re now looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join the team, working alongside experienced engineers on the systems and integrations that power a high-volume D2C eCommerce operation.
This would suit someone with around 1–2 years' commercial software engineering experience who wants to accelerate their development in a genuinely hands-on environment.
This isn't a role where you'll be stuck maintaining one small part of a system. You'll get exposure across backend development, APIs, integrations, eCommerce platforms and cloud infrastructure, with plenty of opportunity to learn from more experienced engineers.

What you'll be doing
- Building and maintaining backend services using Node.js / TypeScript
- Developing REST/GraphQL APIs and third-party integrations
- Working across systems supporting eCommerce, payments, orders, inventory and fulfilment
- Integrating with platforms such as Shopify and other operational systems
- Working with AWS/serverless technologies
- Supporting data flows between different internal and external platforms
- Writing clean, maintainable production code
- Troubleshooting issues and improving existing systems
- Working closely with senior engineers and the wider technology team

What they're looking for
You'll have 1–2 years' commercial development experience and a good grounding in:
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- Node.js
- APIs and backend development
- SQL or NoSQL databases
- Git and modern development practices
Any exposure to Shopify, AWS, payments, ERP systems, order management, logistics or third-party integrations would be a big advantage, but they're not expecting someone at this level to have everything.
It's a strong opportunity for an early-career engineer who already has some commercial experience and wants exposure to the technology behind a rapidly scaling eCommerce business.
