Role Description

The Junior Software Engineer Intern will support the development and maintenance of BabuSpace’s web platform and related backend services. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The intern will collaborate with cross-functional team members to understand requirements, improve system performance, and help ensure a reliable, secure user experience for guests and hosts. This is a part-time, hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a combination of on-site collaboration and some work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and databases.
  • Skills in Software Development and Programming, including experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar).
  • Understanding of Back-End Web Development, including APIs, server-side frameworks, and basic familiarity with web architectures.
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and ability to apply them in real projects.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow engineering best practices, and collaborate in a diverse, multicultural team.
  • Basic familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and software development workflows.
  • Interest in marketplaces, travel tech, or African digital ecosystems is an advantage.
