Junior Software Project Engineer

£40,000 - £50,000 + Training + Hybrid Working + Career Progression + Benefits
Are you a Junior Software Engineer, Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer with some industry experience, looking to join a well-established engineering business where you will receive structured training, work on varied industrial automation projects and develop into a fully-fledged Software Project Engineer?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering services provider working across a range of highly regulated industries including food & beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and personal care.
Working as part of a specialist software team, you will assist in the delivery of automation projects from initial quotation through to commissioning. The role offers a blend of office-based, hybrid and site-based work, providing excellent variety and long-term development opportunities.

You will support the development and modification of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems, produce technical documentation and work closely with customers and project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
This role would suit an engineer with software, controls, automation or electrical engineering experience who is looking to build their technical expertise and progress their career within a growing and supportive organisation.
The Role
- Assist with the delivery of industrial automation and software projects
- Produce technical documentation including FDS, RAMS and project quotations
- Develop and modify PLC, HMI and SCADA software
- Support commissioning, fault-finding and installation activities
- Work closely with customers, engineers and project teams throughout delivery
The Person
- Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience within software, controls, automation or electrical engineering
- PLC, HMI or SCADA experience advantageous
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
