Junior Sous Chef – Central London

Salary: £36,000 + tips/tronc + overtime

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Location: Central London

Overtime: Paid at time and a half

We are recruiting for an experienced Junior Sous Chef to join a premium hospitality and events operation in Central London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chef de Partie or current Junior Sous Chef who is ready to take the next step in their career within a professional, high-quality kitchen environment.

The operation combines restaurant dining, corporate hospitality, private dining, and events, offering plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your skills across different styles of service.

The Role

Working alongside the Sous Chef and wider senior kitchen team, you will help deliver consistently high standards across restaurant, hospitality, and event services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Sous Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
  • Helping to lead and motivate the kitchen team
  • Restaurant and bar service
  • Corporate and private dining
  • Events and functions
  • Supporting larger-scale hospitality operations
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
  • Supporting junior chefs and helping develop the team
  • Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and kitchen standards are maintained
  • Assisting with preparation and service across a varied operation

This is a great role for a chef who enjoys a hands-on position but is also looking to develop their leadership and management skills.

Salary & Hours

  • £36,000 basic salary
  • Tips/tronc
  • 42.5 contracted hours per week
  • 5 days out of 7
  • Predominantly Monday to Friday
  • Flexibility required for evenings and weekends when events take place
  • All hours worked above 42.5 hours paid at time and a half
  • Additional overtime available during events

The business also offers significant scheduled closure periods throughout the year, providing an excellent work-life balance and approximately 10 weeks away from work across the year.

About You

We're looking for an ambitious chef who:

  • Has previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef or similar
  • Has strong technical cooking skills
  • Is confident working in a busy, high-quality kitchen
  • Has experience supporting or leading junior members of a team
  • Understands the importance of consistency and presentation
  • Has excellent food hygiene and safety knowledge
  • Can remain calm and organised during busy services and events
  • Is flexible regarding evening and weekend work
  • Is looking for genuine career progression
