Description

Legacy, the three-rosette fine dining restaurant at The Grand, York, is looking for an ambitious and talented Junior Sous Chef to join our award-winning kitchen brigade. Open Wednesday to Sunday for dinner service, alongside occasional exclusive lunch events, Legacy is driven by seasonality, precision, and creativity. Working closely with the Culinary Director, you’ll help lead the brigade, oversee daily service, and maintain the exceptional culinary standards that define what we do.

As well as leading your section, you’ll play an active role in mentoring junior chefs, contribute to seasonal menu development, and engage with guests to bring our culinary philosophy to life. If you are passionate about fine dining, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are ready to develop your leadership skills while creating unforgettable dining experiences, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Work alongside the Culinary Director to oversee daily service, ensuring every plate meets our exacting standards of flavour, presentation, and consistency.
  • Lead your section with confidence, supporting, coaching, and developing junior chefs while creating a positive and collaborative kitchen culture.
  • Work closely with our restaurant team to deliver a seamless guest experience, engaging with guests to share your passion for our food and bring our culinary story to life.
  • Manage mise en place, stock control, and service preparation to ensure your section is organised, efficient, and ready to deliver exceptional service.
  • Contribute to seasonal menu development, culinary innovation, and continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
