Contract: Permanent

Fowey Hall is now seeking a motivated and talented Junior Sous Chef to join our brilliant team. Role Overview

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will be a key player in our culinary team, contributing to the creation of exceptional dishes that reflect our commitment to quality. This role requires a creative and dedicated individual with a passion for delivering an unforgettable dining experience.

This is a permanent role, at 48 hours per week (including weekends), with an annual salary of £38,500, plus generous service charge and a brilliant benefit package.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Food Preparation: Support the Head Chef in preparing dishes using fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from our on-site kitchen garden.
  • Quality Control: Ensure food quality, presentation, and taste are consistently high.
  • Manage a Section: Oversee a designated section during service, ensuring smooth operation and timely delivery.
  • Support Team Members: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior chefs, helping them improve skills and efficiency.
  • Inventory and Ordering: Assist with stock control, including checking deliveries, managing inventory, and placing orders as needed.
  • Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, ensuring all food safety and hygiene regulations are followed.
  • Assist in Menu Development: Contribute ideas for menu updates or specials.
  • Report to Senior Sous Chef: Work closely with the Senior Sous Chef, handling delegated tasks and taking responsibility for the kitchen in their absence.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a high-quality restaurant or hotel setting.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for cooking and a creative flair.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
