ABOUT US

Martin Structural Engineers Limited (MSEL) is a well-established and fast-paced structural engineering consultancy based in central London, near Kings Cross Station. Formed by the merger of Martin Redston Associates and Martin Cooper Associates (both established in the early 1990s), we bring over 30 years of expertise to the London domestic and small-to-medium commercial markets.

Our diverse range of projects includes:

  • Rear and side extensions, loft conversions, and basements
  • Structural refurbishment and structural beam design
  • Structural inspections, reporting, subsidence investigations, and cracking/movement diagnosis
  • New build domestic and small commercial structures
  • Conceptual projects such as development of airspace

We are a friendly and hard-working team with extremely low staff turnover, a strong work ethic, and shared values. We take pride in consulting closely with our clients, architects, and surveyors to deliver high-quality engineering designs on time and within budget.

THE ROLE

We are seeking an ambitious Junior Structural Engineer to join our design team. Working as a key part of our structural design team, you will collaborate daily with our Directors, Associates, and Senior Engineers, receiving direct mentorship and guidance to help with your future development.

We look for individuals planning on staying for the long term and pushing themselves to get Chartered. This position offers a direct path for professional growth, allowing you to take on increasing responsibility and work autonomously as you develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete structural designs and calculations both digitally and by hand.
  • Perform structural drafting and create detailed 2D plans and elevations using AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate daily with Directors, Associates, and Senior Engineers regarding design schemes and ongoing jobs.
  • Assist in conducting site visits, structural inspections, and drafting clear, concise structural reports in plain English.
  • Liaise with external project stakeholders, including clients, architects, surveyors, and building inspectors.
  • Manage your own time and project tasks efficiently, ensuring work is completed within budget and according to client timescales.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
