Job title: Junior System Operator
Location: Warwick with the view to move to Wokingham
Salary: £34,000 to £38,000pa
Working Hours: 07:00–15:00/08:00-16:00 or 14:00–22:00 covering 37.5 hours per week during training period. Post training will be 07:00–19:00 and 19:00–07:00 rotating shifts
Contract: Up to 24-month Fixed term contract, working full time on site
Our client, a leading energy provider, has a requirement for a Junior System Operator to join their team in an exciting and vital transformation period. The role will involve working within the System Operations Monitoring and Health team, overseeing the Infrastructure and Application landscape that enables the client’s crucial role at the heart of the Energy sector, and working with Strategic suppliers to enable them to succeed.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting a major Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) system, covering transmission and energy balancing services. The position serves as the primary point of contact should any system failure occur. You will join a team responsible for maintaining essential national systems—effectively “keeping the lights on” across the UK.

In this role you will initially be based full time onsite at the Warwick office for the training period which will be approximately 18 months-2 years. Post training you will be working full time at the Wokingham site on a 07:00–19:00 and 19:00–07:00 rotating shift pattern.
Skills/Experience
- Educated to degree level is essential, within an IT related subject, (equivalent qualifications will also be considered).
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems.
- Strong knowledge of Windows environments.
- Basic understanding of core Microsoft technologies.
- Ability to quickly learn organisation-specific systems (full training provided).
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in high-pressure environments such as control rooms.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams, maintaining a clear and professional tone.
