DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Junior Technical Engineer Inside IR35 for a 6 months contract based full time on site in Flintshire

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is a central government department with a mission to protect our country and provide the ultimate guarantee of its security and independence, as well as helping to protect its values and interests abroad.

The MOD’s customers include both the armed forces and national security agencies, and it has a diverse range of requirements, including military fighting vehicles, education services, nuclear submarines and facilities management.

The MOD’s aim is to provide its armed forces with the best capabilities to enable them to protect the UK’s security and advance national interests, both now and in the long term.

To do this the MOD has an annual budget of almost £53 billion and a workforce comprising 197,000 people, of which 54,000 are civilians working for the UK MOD.

  • Understanding and complying with statutory, quality and organisational requirements for aviation, including safety, documentation, occupational health and safety in an aviation environment.
  • To carry out calibration and/or measurements in accordance with authorised documentation.
  • Adjustment or partial reconditioning of customer assets that have drifted outside specification (where possible).
  • To complete all relevant paperwork (e.g. F731) to declare the customer asset as conforming to required specification and having a calibration that is traceable to the International System of Units (SI units), as realised at NMI (national metrological institution) level.
  • To ensure that calibration standards or artefacts used during measurement activities are those specified in the authorised calibration procedure, are fit for use and hold a valid calibration status. To report any suspected issues with calibration standards or artefacts that may compromise the integrity of measurement results.

Essential:

  • Relevant qualification in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • Practical experience gained through an Electrical or Engineering apprenticeship programme.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow, adhere to, and work in accordance with established procedures, processes, and safety standards.
  • Strong team-working skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in a team environment.

Desirable:

  • Calibration experience
