Equans is looking for a Junior Telecoms Technician to join our team at QAH Portsmouth.
This is a full time role, offering hands on experience alongside formal learning through an approved telecommunications engineering apprenticeship programme.
What will you deliver?
- Support the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems
- Work alongside experienced engineers to diagnose faults and resolve technical issues
- Complete training, coursework and assessments while developing practical engineering skills
- Maintain accurate records and follow all health and safety requirements

Who are you?
- A junior candidate with a strong interest in engineering, technology or telecommunications
- Eager to gain hands on experience while completing formal learning and developing technical skills
- Willing to learn, follow instructions and work collaboratively with experienced engineers
- Able to demonstrate good basic IT skills and an awareness of basic electrical or networking principles
- Reliable, punctual, safety conscious and committed to personal development
- A clear communicator with a professional and respectful approach when working with colleagues and clients
- A problem solver who is willing to develop their understanding of technical drawings, systems and industry standards
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English, with Grade 4 or above
- STEM related subjects or technical qualifications are desirable
Background checks
This role is based at QAH Portsmouth and may require employment screening and background checks in line with client, contractual and site security requirements. Further checks may apply due to the hospital environment.
