Junior Trader, Local Markets

The Global Markets division of ICBCS offers sales, structuring, and trading expertise to our clients across a range of products, with particular strengths in Emerging Markets. The Global Markets division comprises of two core businesses, namely Commodities and Fixed Income and Currencies (FIC).

The Commodities Business

The Commodities business provides trading, sales, working capital solutions, and structuring expertise through its Metals and Energy teams. The division's expertise extends to the management and financing of physical commodity inventories across these asset classes.

The FIC Business

The FIC business offers a comprehensive set of foreign exchange, interest rates, credit, money markets, capital markets, and structured financing products. Our clients include financial institutions, corporations, governments, and institutional investors around the world.

The Local Markets & FX Business

The Local Markets & FX business is one of the two trading pillars of the FIC division; responsible for all trading activity in EM local currency rates and FX products (including Money Markets). The desk covers activity across the plethora of products that we trade in CEEMEA, China, Latam, and G10.

What You'll Be Doing

This role is designed to provide support to the Local Markets trading desk across an array of tasks. This is a very fast-paced environment and will require the need to work under some pressure at times.

In addition, the desk is expanding its technology-centric trading and risk management initiatives which the individual will be assisting in developing the infrastructure alongside the traders. The individual will be required to work closely with trading stakeholders and internal technology teams.

  • A relevant degree or equivalent
  • Experience within a banking environment
  • Languages: Mandarin would be beneficial but not required
  • Experience in programming using Python, Matlab, C++ or other languages
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, ideally Financial Services
  • Advanced understanding of the cash FICE market and associated products
  • UK Financial Regulations
  • Overseeing the cash management for the desk across all countries in the region. Projecting future cash needs and market conditions to come up with the most suitable solution
  • Assisting in managing various trading books across the Local Markets Desk, including through assessing and predicting the impact of risk management on various risk limits and mitigating adverse impacts of such trades on risk limits
  • Overseeing the automated process for generating the documentation for access products
  • Overseeing the accurate and effective implementation of the current tools and models, including for the purposes of capital utilization optimization and position monitoring
  • Working closely with other departments (e.g., Risk) to develop tools to assist in trading, risk management, management information, and algos
