The Role
To support the delivery of high-quality coaching within the Foundation Phase, ensuring young players have an opportunity to train in accordance with the Wrexham Way.
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and review coaching sessions that are age-appropriate, engaging, and in line with the Academy philosophy.
- Support the holistic development of players across the Foundation Phase.
- Create a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment for all players.
- Work closely with the Foundation Phase Lead and multidisciplinary staff to ensure the effective development of players.
- Support matchday coaching and review performance with players.
- Contribute to constructive feedback is provided to aid progression.
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare standards are always upheld.
About You
Experience / Qualifications Required
- UEFA B (working towards) coaching qualification (minimum).
- FA / FAW Youth Modules / Introduction to Coaching Football desirable.
- Valid FA / FAW Safeguarding Children Certificate.
- Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF).
- Previous experience working with children in a coaching capacity.

Personal Specification
- Passionate about player development and grassroots/academy football.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Demonstrated experience of leading coaching within a high-performance environment.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience and knowledge of EPPP regulations.
- Strong identification with what long-term player development and player pathways from youth to professional level requires.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and is committed to achieving agreed objectives within Academy activities.
- Effective at preparing, planning, and implementing all aspects of academy administration that are aligned with whole-club objectives for coaching young talented football players.
- A dynamic, hardworking individual that can relate to all staff members and participants engaged in academy and coaching activities.
- Proactive decision maker with excellent verbal and written communication skills that is effective in communicating across all departments within a multidisciplinary approach.
- Takes responsibility for ensuring a high quality of work and maintaining standards in line with the responsiveness needed for delivering against the club’s coaching objectives and philosophies.
- Is receptive to feedback about own behaviour, strengths and areas for improvement that identifies improvement strategies relating to academy coaching activities.
- Displays a high level of confidentiality and transparency and can contribute to team meetings in a professional manner.
- Committed to, and an understanding of, equality and diversity in sport.
- Flexible and committed to evening/weekend availability.
