About The Role
Bullet Express is looking for a Junior Transport Operator to join our Operations Team at our Bothwell site.
This is a junior role designed for someone who is looking to start or develop a career within transport and logistics. You will work alongside our experienced Operations Team, supporting the day-to-day running of a busy transport office while receiving full training to develop into the role of Transport Operator.
You do not need to have previous transport experience. We are looking for someone who is confident, organised, willing to learn and comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced office environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Team and Operations Manager, learning all aspects of transport operations while assisting with the daily tasks required to keep our operation running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Office Support
- Assist the Operations Team with the day-to-day running of the transport office.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with general enquiries.
- Communicate with drivers throughout the day and assist with queries and operational updates.
- Assist with the preparation and completion of transport paperwork.
- Scan and process Proof of Deliveries (PODs) and other transport documentation.
- Update information accurately on our internal Transport Management System (TMS).
- Use Microsoft Office for general administration, reports and operational tasks.
- Assist with driver briefings and debriefings.
- Help ensure paperwork and operational records are completed accurately and filed correctly.
- Provide general administrative support to the Operations Team.
Learning & Development
- This role is designed to provide hands-on training with the aim of developing the successful candidate into a Transport Operator.
As your knowledge and experience develop, you will be trained to:
- Understand the day-to-day planning and running of transport operations.
- Use our internal Transport Management System confidently.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers and other departments.
- Assist with planning deliveries and collections.
- Understand driver schedules and daily transport requirements.
- Prepare and manage transport paperwork.
- Deal with day-to-day operational issues and changes.
- Understand the importance of customer service and delivery performance.
- Develop the skills required to make decisions within a busy transport environment.
- Take on increased responsibility as your knowledge and confidence grow.

Working with Drivers & the Operations Team
- Build good working relationships with our drivers and operational teams.
- Provide drivers with clear and accurate information.
- Pass any issues or concerns to the appropriate member of the Operations Team.
- Work closely with experienced Transport Operators and the Operations Manager.
- Support the wider team during busy periods.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues to ensure information is passed between departments and shifts.
Administration & Accuracy
- Ensure information entered onto company systems is accurate.
- Scan and process PODs and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist with checking transport paperwork for missing or incorrect information.
- Maintain organised records and documentation.
- Follow company processes and procedures.
- Handle customer and operational information professionally.
What We're Looking For
Previous transport or logistics experience is desirable but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is confident and comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced office environment.
- Has good communication skills and is comfortable speaking to drivers and colleagues.
- Is organised and able to manage several tasks at the same time.
- Has good attention to detail.
- Is comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office.
- Is willing to learn new systems and processes.
- Can remain calm when the office is busy.
- Has a positive and proactive attitude.
- Is reliable and works well as part of a team.
- Is comfortable asking questions and keen to learn.
- Wants to develop a career within transport and logistics.

The Person
You do not need to already be a Transport Operator to be successful in this role.
We are looking for someone with the right attitude, confidence and willingness to learn. You will be supported by an experienced Operations Team who will train you in the different areas of the transport operation.
This could suit someone with previous experience in administration, customer service, logistics, transport or another busy office environment, or someone looking for their first opportunity to build a career within the transport industry.

As you progress within the role, success will include:
- Accurate completion of daily administration and paperwork.
- Accurate use of our internal transport systems.
- Good communication with drivers and colleagues.
- Timely scanning and processing of PODs.
- Ability to follow company procedures and instructions.
- Developing knowledge of the transport operation.
- Taking on additional responsibilities as your training progresses.
- Becoming increasingly confident and independent within the transport office.
- Progression towards becoming a fully trained Transport Operator.

Salary
Salary will be dependent on age and previous experience and will be discussed at interview.
As this is a junior development role, the starting salary will reflect the successful candidate’s experience, with the opportunity to progress as they develop their skills and work towards becoming a fully trained Transport Operator.
