About the Role

This role is a graduate opportunity to join a specialist, fast-growing London Market MGA. You will take on the underwriting of a small-ticket US miscellaneous professional liability book, and you will also support the core operational processes behind the business.

You will work closely with the MGA's founder and senior underwriting team. You'll handle a steady, high-volume flow of submissions on a modern, AI-enabled underwriting platform, apply underwriting guidelines and binder authority, and make sure business is quoted, bound and administered accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on role. You will learn how an MGA runs day to day, from broker submissions and underwriting decisions through to the operational discipline that supports capacity providers. As the book grows, there is a real opportunity to make it your own.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Underwriting: You'll review and underwrite incoming US miscellaneous professional liability submissions. This means applying underwriting guidelines and binder parameters, and referring risks outside authority to senior underwriters.
  • Platform management: You'll manage the submission pipeline on the MGA's underwriting platform. That includes validating data it has ingested automatically, so that risk information is complete, accurate and correctly captured.
  • Growing the book: You'll help grow the book from its current base by building relationships with brokers, responding quickly to quotes and queries, and helping increase submission volumes over time.
  • Operations support: You'll help with day-to-day operational activity. This includes policy administration, documentation, and working with the finance and operations team.
  • Reporting: You'll contribute to bordereaux, binder reporting and control checks. This helps the MGA show capacity providers that it has strong data quality and follows agreed procedures.
  • Improving processes: You'll spot recurring issues and suggest practical improvements to how things are done, including where technology and automation can make the business more efficient.
  • Communication: You should be a clear, professional communicator who can build good relationships with brokers, capacity providers and colleagues.
  • Curiosity: You'll need a strong aptitude for learning, a real interest in insurance and how an MGA works, and the confidence to ask questions. No prior insurance experience is required.
  • Data skills: You should be confident working with data in Excel (for example lookups, pivots and basic reconciliations) and comfortable picking up new systems and technology quickly.
  • Accuracy: You should be methodical, detail-oriented and reliable, and take pride in getting things right first time.
  • Organisation: You'll need to manage your own workload, handle a high volume of smaller tasks, and balance underwriting and operational priorities in a small team.
  • Drive: You'll need hunger, initiative and a willingness to get involved in whatever the business needs as it scales.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
