JUST Research Centre Administrator

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a JUST Research Centre Administrator. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive and proactive administrative and operational support for the delivery of the JUST Research Centre and associated activities within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintain good working relationships within the Centre and with the respective stakeholders both internal and external by offering excellent customer care service: relaying email messages, prompt answering or escalating of queries, welcoming and registering guests.
  • Assisting with the preparation of paperwork relating to grant applications and reports to funders.
  • Maintain accurate mailing lists for academics, researchers, and external stakeholders and circulate the relevant information within the research group.
  • Support colleagues by proactively finding solutions for problems presented and work independently to find resolution, recognising when escalation is required.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of grant related research activities (quotations and bookings for venues, booking travel and accommodation, arranging catering, monitoring registrations etc) as necessary.

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria

  • Administrative experience within a busy office environment
  • Demonstrate organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills demonstrating an ability to deal with a diverse range of individuals both internal and external to the organisation
  • Demonstrate team-working skills to work within a collaborative environment and liaise with academics, administrators, and wider University and external teams
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to show initiative and ability to adapt to constantly changing challenges

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of software packages including Eventbrite, Asana, Canva
  • Knowledge and experience of using University systems such as Oracle, iProc, PURE, and Key Travel
  • Experience of research administration in an HE environment
  • Experience of working in a process driven team environment, demonstrating an ability to provide support for colleagues
  • Interest in issues related to the areas of research of the Centre: environmental sustainability, decarbonisation/net zero, and social justice
