Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Key Account Buying Manager to join our team with preferred although not essential importing or retail buying background to take ownership of all aspects of product sampling, production and shipping of products from our suppliers worldwide. This role is vital in supporting our procurement processes and ensuring smooth operations at our head office in Swinton.
The role is highly administrative so a strong working knowledge of spreadsheets & working with critical paths is recommended.
The role will involve product research, a good understanding on costing in terms of product costs and freight & exchange rate calculation. A clear focus on ensuring that customers’ orders are correctly placed, produced and delivered against tight time scales and shipments are compliant with individual customer protocols on quality, testing and packaging requirements.
Develop strong partnerships with our suppliers around the world. This is a crucial part of the role, achieved through good communication & negotiation on a daily basis, via various methods, email, phone and on-line.

Responsibilities
- Managing the product, after the initial customer presentation and selection, from order processing through to sampling, mass production, testing & ultimately the shipment of goods in line with customer requirements.
- Managing numerous products, within ranges across several key categories, in RMS Brand or customer’s own brand artworks. These will be mixed concepts taken from current stock product in a lot of instances, but the role will also involve researching & developing new concepts.
- Sourcing products from the FE with a goal of maintaining/increasing product quality and margin.
- Negotiating with suppliers, agreeing price and payment terms.
- Liaise with the design team to help create or achieve specific product and packaging concepts.
- Work with QC to ensure products are reviewed & tested properly and are fit for use, and to ensure all products meet the required standards for their specific market.
- Overall responsibility ranges from assisting in sourcing factories, products & purchase decisions, to developing product and packaging design, straight through to product sampling, testing & production and finally making sure we achieve Cargo Ready dates in line with customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of buying activities and supplier information.
- Coordinate communication between suppliers and internal departments.
- Product Set up- Outlining product specifications on internal systems and liaising with internal design department.
- Sample Management- Ensuring red and gold seal samples are recorded internally and adhere to the approval process.
- Raising artwork / design briefs for our inhouse studio and checking accuracy of output

- Motivated & passionate with a strong desire to excel and achieve the desired goals of the business.
- Be proactive at problem solving, through experience, knowledge and teamwork, to seek out solutions to issues when required & to strive to have processes in place to avoid problems from occurring.
- Be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with ever competing priorities.
- Numerate, articulate & creative individual who can thrive under pressure, with strong communication, administrative & teamwork skills.
- Previous experience of importing/buying from the Far East.
- Attention to detail is essential and strong organisational skills are required.
