Key Account Manager – Defence, UK (C5ISR / Tactical Communications)
Our client, a European defence technology company specialising in resilient tactical communications and C5ISR systems, is seeking a senior Key Account Manager to lead their UK market strategy and represent them directly with the UK Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence.
This is a senior, strategic commercial appointment, not a business development or sales support role. You will own the UK customer relationship end-to-end, from strategic positioning through to contract award, engaging directly with senior military and procurement stakeholders.

Essential requirements:
- British citizenship (mandatory - national security requirement)
- Eligible to obtain and maintain UK SC clearance
- A military officer background (or equivalent senior-level defence-sector experience), ideally within communications, C4/CIS, or ISTAR disciplines
- An established network at strategic level across the UK Armed Forces, MOD, or Front Line Commands - or a demonstrable track record of building this kind of access from a standing start
- Experience owning strategic account plans and leading complex, long-cycle commercial engagements with military end-users, programme offices, and procurement authorities
- Working understanding of UK defence procurement, capability development cycles, and export-control/compliance frameworks
- Comfortable representing a company's interests directly rather than relying primarily on a channel or partner network

What the role involves:
- Building and owning a strategic account and market-development plan for UK defence
- Direct relationship ownership with strategic-level C5ISR, communications, and capability leaders
- Representing the business at senior stakeholder meetings, defence forums, and industry events
- Regular international travel
