Key Account Manager – Aircraft Heavy Maintenance
UK Based | Aviation MRO | Base Maintenance
Capilaux Aero is supporting an established aviation maintenance organisation in the search for an experienced Key Account Manager to manage strategic airline and aircraft lessor customers within its heavy/base maintenance operation.
This is a commercially focused, customer-facing position requiring someone who understands the complexities of aircraft base maintenance and can act as the primary interface between major customers and internal maintenance, planning, commercial and operational teams.
The Role
The Key Account Manager will take ownership of a portfolio of key airline and lessor accounts, ensuring customers receive a high level of service throughout their relationship with the maintenance facility.
Working closely with operational and technical teams, you will manage customer expectations across heavy maintenance inputs, maintain strong commercial relationships and ensure clear communication throughout each programme.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the primary commercial and relationship contact for key airline and aircraft lessor customers.
- Managing customer relationships throughout base and heavy maintenance inputs, from initial planning through to completion and follow-up.
- Developing strong, long-term relationships with existing strategic accounts.
- Working closely with maintenance, planning, engineering, commercial and production teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and delivered.
- Maintaining regular communication with customers regarding maintenance progress, changing requirements, additional works and potential challenges.
- Supporting commercial discussions relating to maintenance inputs, quotations, additional work and contract requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts and increase repeat business.
- Managing customer expectations while balancing operational capabilities and commercial objectives.
- Supporting customer visits, review meetings and programme discussions.
- Ensuring issues are escalated and resolved effectively while maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Providing account updates, forecasts and commercial information to senior management.

Candidate Requirements
Candidates must have previous exposure to aircraft base/heavy maintenance and understand the commercial and operational environment of a maintenance facility.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience within an aircraft MRO, base maintenance or heavy maintenance environment.
- Experience managing or supporting airline and/or aircraft lessor customers.
- Strong key account management and customer relationship skills.
- A good understanding of the aircraft maintenance process and the complexities surrounding scheduled heavy maintenance inputs.
- Experience working cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, planning, production and commercial teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence managing customer expectations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to build relationships with customers at multiple levels, from operational contacts through to senior decision-makers.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving customer issues.
- The ability to manage multiple customer accounts and maintenance programmes simultaneously.
