Job Title - Key Account Manager
Area – National Coverage (UK & Ireland)
Reporting To – Head of Commercial
About Us
Advanced Water Company is a specialist distributor within the plumbing and heating sector, operating nationally across merchants, independent merchants, and buying groups. We are committed to structured growth, operational discipline, and long-term commercial sustainability.
We operate to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and place strong emphasis on professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The Role
Advanced Water Company is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Key Account Manager to develop, manage, and grow relationships with strategically important merchant customers across the Plumbing, Heating, and Electrical sectors.
This is a senior customer-facing role with commercial ownership of an agreed portfolio of independent and regional merchant accounts. The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with key stakeholders at multiple levels, including business owners, directors, procurement teams, senior management, and merchant sales teams.
You will develop structured account plans, analyse customer performance, and identify opportunities to increase sales, gross margin, product and category penetration, and overall share of wallet.
Working closely with the Head of Commercial and Area Sales Team, you will ensure AWC takes a coordinated approach to its key customers and that opportunities identified at account level are effectively developed across the wider customer organisation.
You will also support the Head of Commercial across selected national accounts and buying-group relationships, providing exposure to larger and more complex customer structures and the opportunity to broaden your commercial responsibilities as AWC continues to grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
