Key Account Manager – Water Utilities

UK Wide / Home Based
£60,000 – £70,000 Basic + OTE £80 - 100,000 + Excellent Company Car

The Company

This is a genuinely outstanding business to work for. Our client is an established international manufacturer with an exceptional reputation for its people, culture and the way it does business.

Average employee tenure is around 10+ years, with many people having built careers spanning 20 years or more. The MD himself has been with the business for over two decades.

That retention comes from a culture built around high standards, strong ethics, trust and autonomy. You'll have the freedom to manage your customers and territory in your own way, backed by an experienced, supportive team who genuinely collaborate and help each other succeed.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for developing the company's presence across the UK water utility sector.

At the heart of the role are six major water authority accounts, representing a substantial existing revenue base and significant further potential.

Your first priority will be to understand those customers, strengthen relationships and identify where the business can increase its share of spend across different applications and areas of each organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

But this isn't simply about protecting existing revenue.

There is considerable scope to develop relationships with additional UK water authorities, opening new accounts and converting opportunities currently supplied by competitors.

The previous person in the position more than doubled sales during their four years in the role. The platform is established – the opportunity now is to take it considerably further.

The Person

The key requirement is a proven sales track record within the UK water sector.

You might currently be selling instrumentation, metering, pumps, valves, process equipment, environmental solutions, technical services or another product or service into UK water authorities.

Your exact product background is less important than your ability to navigate major water accounts, develop relationships and create commercial opportunities.

We want someone who:

  • Has a strong sales track record with UK water authorities
  • Understands how water companies operate and buy
  • Can develop relationships across complex major accounts
  • Spots opportunities to increase share of customer spend
  • Has the commercial drive to open new accounts
  • Builds credibility and influences rather than simply making routine account calls
  • Enjoys autonomy and taking ownership of their market
