About the Opportunity

Our client is a global leader in advanced engineering polymers and high-performance material solutions, serving customers across automotive, industrial, electrical & electronics, consumer goods, and mobility markets. Through continuous innovation and a strong focus on customer partnerships, the company develops materials that help improve product performance, durability, lightweighting, and sustainability.

The Role

This is a highly visible business development position focused on delivering profitable growth across a portfolio of high-performance polymers and specialty polyamide compounds. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the company's market presence, developing new customer relationships, identifying emerging applications, and driving long-term commercial partnerships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, compounders, converters, and manufacturers.

Working closely with technical, product management, R&D, and commercial teams, the individual will act as a strategic partner to customers, helping them solve complex engineering challenges through innovative material solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to drive growth across targeted market segments and regions.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with OEMs, Tier suppliers, processors, moulders, compounders, and manufacturers.
  • Increase market share for engineering polymers and specialty polyamide solutions across automotive, industrial, electrical, electronics, consumer, and mobility applications.
  • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers across engineering, procurement, product development, and executive leadership functions.
  • Identify new applications and market opportunities for advanced polymer technologies.
  • Lead customer acquisition activities from initial engagement through commercialisation and long-term account development.
  • Manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and technical decision-makers.
  • Develop strategic account plans and growth initiatives for key customers.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with technical and application development teams to support customer projects and accelerate new business wins.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts and contribute to annual growth planning.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Polymer Science, Plastics Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven success within business development, strategic sales, or commercial leadership roles in the polymers, plastics, engineering materials, compounds, additives, or specialty chemicals sectors.
  • Strong understanding of engineering polymers, polyamides, thermoplastics, compounds, or advanced material technologies.
  • Demonstrated track record of winning new business and developing strategic customer relationships.
  • Experience working with OEMs, Tier suppliers, processors, moulders, compounders, or manufacturers.
  • Strong consultative selling and value proposition development skills.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify and convert new market opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and results-driven.
  • Fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
