KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER

LOCATION
Hybrid and field-based across a South UK territory, with regular time at the client's Ashbourne, Derbyshire operation. Candidates within commuting distance across the East or West Midlands are preferred.

PAY
Base salary £60,000 to £70,000 per annum (£30.77 to £35.90 per hour equivalent at 37.5 hours), plus commission. On-target earnings of £100,000 or more. Commission structure is explained at first-stage screening.

CONTRACT
Permanent, full-time

REPORTING TO
Sales Director (client side)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Key Account Manager owns key customers and opportunities across the South, combining existing account development with new opportunity creation. The work is consultative and project-based: getting under the skin of a customer's operation, identifying challenges and future opportunities, and working with Engineering and Applications teams to shape engineered solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Spend time on site understanding customer operations.
  • Identify problems, inefficiencies, automation opportunities and future requirements.
  • Scope technically led solutions across products, technology and automation.
  • Work with Engineering and Applications teams to turn customer challenges into engineered solutions.
  • Develop opportunities from initial discussion through proposal, negotiation and order.
  • Increase the breadth and value of solutions within existing customers, including automation-led opportunities.
  • Introduce customers to the wider product and technology range.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • An engineering degree, apprenticeship or strong hands-on engineering background, with a move into a commercial sales role.
  • Experience selling engineered solutions such as material handling, intralogistics, automation, robotics, conveyors, capital equipment, machinery, process equipment or controls. The specific product matters less than the engineering foundation.
  • Current or recent experience as a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Manager, Area Sales Manager, Business Development Manager or Technical Account Manager.
  • Ability to build and develop customer relationships, uncover opportunities and progress business through proposal, negotiation and close.
  • Comfort engaging with Engineering, Operations and Production teams across longer, consultative project cycles.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The right to work in the UK.
