About the Role

The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing, retaining, and growing BESA contractor membership within their allocated geographical area. The role acts as the main relationship lead for contractor members, ensuring they receive clear value from BESA, understand the support available to them, and remain engaged throughout their membership. The role is also responsible for identifying and developing growth opportunities. This includes new contractor membership opportunities, Member Pledge opportunities, member referrals, supply chain opportunities, and wider engagement.

This is a commercial relationship role. It combines account management, retention, engagement, and growth.

Candidates must reside in Wales and have a strong connection to the country, with the credibility, knowledge, and professional networks needed to engage effectively and represent BESA across Wales.

Key Duties

Account Management and Retention

  • Manage a portfolio of allocated contractor members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key contacts across member businesses, including owners, directors, commercial leads, technical leads, operations leads, and compliance contacts.
  • Understand each member’s business, priorities, challenges, and current use of BESA business support services.
  • Identify retention risks early and take action before membership renewal becomes a concern.
  • Ensure the member portfolio is fully aware and up to date with their BESA Competence Assessment Standard (CAS) Audits.
  • Maintain regular contact with priority members and ensure meaningful engagement is recorded in iMIS.
  • Ensure members understand and access relevant:
    • BESA business support - Technical, Employment, Health and Safety, Legal & Commercial, Training & Skills
    • Engagement activity – Region & Nation meetings, Specialist Group and Committee meetings, and Business Networking Events
    • Additional Certificate Schemes and Benefits - REFCOM, VHR, SFG20, Welplan, and wider BESA Group services where relevant.

Growth and New Membership

  • Identify and develop new contractor membership opportunities within the allocated region or account base.
  • Prioritise contractor businesses that are active in BESA in-scope work areas and have clear potential for membership.
  • Support regional growth through Member Pledge, member referrals, supply chain opportunities, former members, event leads, and warm introductions.
  • Progress suitable opportunities directly or hand them over to the sales team where appropriate.
  • Track all opportunities in iMIS, including owner, stage, likely band, revenue value where known, next action, and source.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
