PURPOSE OF ROLE

We are seeking an ambitious, relationship-driven Key Account Manager to support the continued growth of Baker Freight. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing existing customer relationships, identifying opportunities to grow accounts and ensuring customers receive a consistently high level of service across our Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Road Freight and Customs services. Working closely with the Operations and Commercial teams, you will develop a strong understanding of each customer’s requirements and help deliver tailored logistics solutions that add genuine value. This role requires a proactive, commercially minded individual with excellent communication skills, a passion for customer service and a commitment to representing Baker Freight’s TRIBE values in every interaction.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTIBILITIES

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of existing Baker Freight customers, building strong and lasting relationships.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers, providing proactive communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each customer’s business, supply chain and freight requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to increase customer spend and introduce additional Baker Freight services.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to ensure shipments are managed effectively and service expectations are met.
  • Monitor customer activity, volumes and profitability, identifying areas for improvement or growth.
  • Conduct regular customer reviews and maintain accurate account information and activity within HubSpot.
  • Support the preparation and follow-up of quotations, tenders and commercial opportunities.
  • Proactively identify and address customer issues, taking ownership through to resolution.
  • Maintain regular contact with key customers to understand changing requirements and upcoming opportunities.
  • Support customer retention by ensuring Baker Freight consistently delivers on its commitments.
  • Build strong internal relationships across Operations, Finance and Commercial teams to ensure a joined-up customer experience.
  • Develop knowledge of the freight forwarding market, competitors and customer trends.
  • Contribute to Baker Freight’s wider sales and growth strategy by sharing customer insight and market feedback.
  • Represent Baker Freight professionally and consistently demonstrate our TRIBE values — Togetherness, Respect, Innovation, Being Positive and Efficiency.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Relationship Building: Identifying opportunities to grow the relationship and increase revenue through upselling and cross-selling.
  • Company exposure: Working with the company directors, using social media platforms to increase company exposure, plus identifying and implementing new techniques to gain an advantage over competitors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a customer service, account management or freight forwarding role, ideally within Freight and Supply Chain Logistics.
  • A confident communicator with a proactive, relationship-driven approach to customer management.
  • Has a desire to grow within the company — ambitious, driven and with a positive mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers.
  • Highly organised, with great attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple customer requirements effectively.
  • Commercially aware, with an interest in identifying opportunities to develop and grow existing customer accounts.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with clear KPIs and objectives.
  • A strong team player who’s motivated to contribute to the growth and success of Baker Freight Ltd.
  • Confident using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and social media.
  • A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service and representing Baker Freight's TRIBE values.
