Askham Bryan College are seeking enthusiastic, inspirational and motivated individuals to lead and support on the delivery of our King's Trust Team Programme. With outreach sites across West Yorkshire, we are looking for Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders within Leeds, Wakefield and/or Huddersfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with young people aged 16–25, helping them build confidence, resilience, employability skills and aspirations through personal development, community projects, residential experiences, work placements and employer engagement activities.
If you thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy making a tangible difference to people's lives and have experience working with young people, education, employability or personal development programmes, we would love to hear from you.
About The Role
As a Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader, you will play a key role in delivering the King's Trust Team Programme, supporting young people through a life-changing journey that helps them overcome barriers, build confidence, develop employability skills, and progress into employment, education, or training.
Working as part of the Adult & Future Skills team, you will create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment where learners can thrive. You will support the recruitment, retention and progression of learners, deliver inspiring activities, and provide individual and group support tailored to learners' needs.
The level of responsibility will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and role appointment.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, enrol and support the retention of learners onto the King's Trust Team Programme (Team Leader responsibility).
- Deliver and support engaging personal development, employability, team-building and classroom-based learning activities.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to learners, including those with additional learning, social, emotional or behavioural needs.
- Support learners throughout all aspects of the programme, including classroom sessions, residential experiences, community projects, volunteering activities, employer visits and work placements.
- Help learners develop confidence, resilience, communication, team-working and employability skills.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive and motivating learning environment that supports learner engagement and achievement.
- Promote positive behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and learner success.
- Monitor learner attendance, progress and achievement, maintaining accurate records and contributing to performance reporting.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with employers, referral partners, community organisations and other stakeholders to create meaningful opportunities for learners.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support services to ensure learners receive appropriate guidance, support and interventions.
- Contribute to safeguarding, learner welfare and wellbeing processes, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Accompany and support learners during educational visits, residential activities, employer engagement events and other off-site learning opportunities, including overnight stays where required.
- Motivate, inspire and engage learners from diverse backgrounds to achieve positive outcomes and progression routes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
