We are now looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant for 25 hours to join the team in our St Joseph's Nursing Home in Warrenpoint. The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and of all equipment, cleaning materials, liquids and solvents used in the kitchen. He/she will assist in the preparation and cooking of food.
PAY RATE £12.71 per hour

- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Assist in the service of all meals and snacks and complete food choice lists for residents at each mealtime.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment
- Ensure all food safety protocols are followed, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Support the team during busy periods by assisting with various kitchen tasks as required
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of food preparation, meal assembly, and basic cooking techniques
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on varied responsibilities within the kitchen setting
- Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends or evenings if required
