Are you a reliable and enthusiastic kitchen professional looking for your next opportunity? We’re seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support the catering team at a children’s nursery in London.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help prepare nutritious meals and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment for young children.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll support the smooth day-to-day operation of the nursery kitchen. Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the preparation, cooking, and serving of fresh, nutritious meals and snacks.
- Following menus, portion sizes, recipes, and dietary requirements accurately.
- Preparing meals for children with allergies, intolerances, and special dietary needs.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen organization.
- Washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and keeping food preparation areas tidy.
- Checking and storing deliveries while following stock rotation procedures.
- Supporting the kitchen team and nursery staff with a friendly, professional approach.

Kitchen Assistant Role Expectations
You’ll be expected to work carefully and responsibly in a busy nursery environment, ensuring that food is prepared safely and served on time. You will help maintain accurate allergen information, follow food safety procedures, and contribute to a positive mealtime experience for the children.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a nursery, school, care, hospitality, or commercial kitchen environment is desirable.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certification is desirable.
- Good understanding of food safety, cleanliness, and allergen awareness.
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Positive communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children.
- A DBS check will be required for this role.
