Saputo Dairy UK produces our local Wensleydale cheese, and other well-known brands include Cathedral City cheese, butters and spreads such as Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, and Utterly Butterly, and other dairy ingredients.

About These Opportunities

We have two roles available currently for Kitchen Assistants on the following shift patterns:

Position 1: Kitchen Assistant

  • Full Time Permanent
  • 5 days over 7, alternate weekends
  • 8:30 am start - 5:15 pm finish during March to the end of October and 4:15 pm finish November to the end of February
  • Salary: £26,111

Position 2: Kitchen Assistant

  • 4 days Permanent
  • 4 days over 7, alternate weekends
  • 8:30 am start - 5:15 pm finish during March to the end of October and 4:15 pm finish November to the end of February
  • Salary: £20,888

You will be working in our award-winning visitor experience, Calvert’s Restaurant & 1897 Coffee Shop, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We attract a vast range of visitors all year round and are continuing to grow from strength to strength.

We pride ourselves on using locally sourced fresh seasonal produce and our ethos is to provide outstanding quality food whilst showcasing our award-winning cheeses, which represent our amazing brand and exceed our customers’ expectations.

This is very much a 'hands-on' role working with our fabulous kitchen team, helping to produce great quality food, whilst ensuring the kitchen maintains extremely high standards of cleaning. Full training is available for the right candidate with the option to progress and gain formal qualifications if desired.

You'll Make Contributions That Matter by...

  • Preparing salads, vegetables, garnishes, and sandwiches to agreed specifications
  • Preparing snacks, starters, & desserts throughout service to agreed specifications and timescales
  • Supporting the chefs with general preparation of dishes
  • Ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout service
  • Ensuring strict portion control is adhered to
  • Monitoring and logging of information in relation to HACCP
  • Complying with company procedures and legislative requirements
  • Ensuring agreed stock levels are maintained throughout service
  • Checking use / sell by dates and ensuring strict stock rotation
  • Putting away deliveries ensuring strict stock rotation
  • Observing correct cooking times, core temperatures, and allergen procedures
  • General cleaning of kitchen and equipment in conjunction with the cleaning schedule
  • General washing of crockery to a high standard
  • Supporting the kitchen team in other duties as required
