Multi-Skilled Commercial Kitchen Engineer

The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced Multi-Skilled Commercial Kitchen Engineer to support a successful restaurant group operating across London.
This is a hands-on maintenance position responsible for ensuring commercial kitchens, catering equipment and wider restaurant facilities remain safe, compliant and fully operational. The role would suit an experienced Commercial Kitchen Engineer, Catering Equipment Engineer, Facilities Technician or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in hospitality.
The Role
You will provide planned and reactive maintenance across restaurant and commercial kitchen environments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and repairing commercial catering equipment.
- Diagnosing faults across electrical and gas-operated kitchen equipment.
- Working with fryers, grills, cookers, ovens and refrigeration equipment.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and safety checks.
- Supporting basic HVAC, plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
- Carrying out minor internal and external decorating and general building repairs.
- Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise disruption.
- Ensuring maintenance activity meets relevant health, safety and compliance standards.
- Working with restaurant teams and external contractors when specialist support is required.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repairs and completed work.

Key Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Strong knowledge of commercial catering equipment, including electric and gas-operated appliances.
- Experience maintaining fryers, grills, cookers and commercial refrigeration equipment.
- Practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and wider mechanical systems.
- Experience completing minor decorating and general building-maintenance work.
- An NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent.
- A 17th or 18th Edition BS 7671 qualification.
- Commercial Gas Safe registration covering the relevant catering categories.
- At least four to five years’ maintenance experience within restaurants, hospitality or commercial catering environments.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage urgent maintenance requirements.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when working within live restaurant environments.
- The existing right to work in the UK.

You will be a reliable and practical engineer who takes ownership of problems and understands the importance of keeping busy restaurant operations running safely. You will be comfortable managing a varied workload, responding to urgent breakdowns and completing maintenance work to a consistently high standard. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established hospitality business and take responsibility for maintaining a varied portfolio of commercial kitchen equipment and restaurant facilities.
