Kitchen Porter – New Mediterranean Restaurant

Location: Hoar Cross Hall, Staffordshire

Annual salary: £12.93 per hour

Estimated Start Date: 14 December 2026

Be part of something new from day one!

We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join the opening team of our brand-new 60-cover Mediterranean restaurant at Hiddenwell.

Our ambition is to achieve and consistently maintain a minimum Two AA Rosette standard, and a great kitchen doesn’t run without a great Kitchen Porter.

Working alongside our chefs and wider kitchen brigade, you’ll play an essential role in keeping the kitchen clean, safe, organised and ready for service. You’ll make sure the team has the clean equipment they need, help keep everything running smoothly during busy services and take pride in maintaining excellent standards behind the scenes.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two services are quite the same, but your role will include:

  • Keeping our pot-wash and dishwashing areas clean, organised and running efficiently
  • Cleaning crockery, cutlery, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment
  • Making sure chefs have clean equipment available when they need it
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen
  • Completing daily cleaning and end-of-shift close-down duties
  • Following food hygiene, allergen, Health & Safety and COSHH procedures
  • Helping keep storage and waste areas clean and organised
  • Separating waste and supporting our recycling and sustainability procedures
  • Reporting equipment faults, breakages or safety concerns promptly
  • Helping the kitchen team during busy services
  • Where trained, helping with deliveries, stock organisation and basic food preparation
  • Taking part in training and preparations ahead of the restaurant opening

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a chef to make a big difference in our kitchen.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is

  • Reliable – your team can count on you
  • Hard-working – you’re happy working in a busy, physically active environment
  • Organised – you take pride in keeping your work area clean and tidy
  • A team player – you’re willing to get stuck in and help others
  • Safety conscious – you understand the importance of following procedures and asking when you’re unsure
  • Positive – even when service gets busy
  • Proud of high standards – you notice the details and want things done properly

Previous kitchen or hospitality experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential. The right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are just as important to us.

Be Part of the Opening Team

This is more than joining an existing kitchen – you’ll be helping us build one.

Before we open, you’ll receive training and get to know the kitchen, equipment and team, including training in food hygiene, allergens, COSHH, cleaning procedures and safe ways of working.

You’ll help us establish the standards we want to maintain from our very first service.

Want to Build a Career in the Kitchen?

If you’re interested in becoming a chef in the future, this could be a great place to start.

There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in areas such as food preparation, knife skills, food hygiene, allergens, stock rotation and kitchen organisation, with potential progression into roles such as Kitchen Assistant or Commis Chef.

At Hiddenwell, our values of Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Respect and Commitment guide how we work. We’re looking for people who take pride in what they do, support the people around them and want to be part of creating something special.
