Working Hours

37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (Term time only)

Salary

£24,538 FTE per annum (Actual Salary £22,776.58 per annum)

As our Kitchen Porter, you will provide general assistance within the curriculum area including undertaking cleaning services, organising and dealing with transport deliveries and ensuring that produce is stored and delivered to relevant areas correctly.

Responsibilities of our Kitchen Porter

  • Collect deliveries and transport to the appropriate storage area.
  • Ensure that theory rooms are clean and ready for teaching.
  • Attend to student changing rooms, ensuring that they are clean and ready for use.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment including ovens, cookers, grills, fryers, extraction grills and canopies. Including deep cleaning of kitchens and equipment during non-teaching weeks.
  • Transport equipment for kitchens and classrooms.
  • Transport produce (food trolleys) to kitchens and HU1.
  • Undertake routine maintenance of cleaning and catering equipment.
  • Assist with the administrative processes linked to enrolment including producing course labels, managing course bookings, arranging interviews and all other processes involved with enrolment.

What we’re looking for in our Kitchen Porter

  • Minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths, or be willing to work towards this qualification
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Experience and understanding of cleaning duties in a catering environment
  • Experience of working within a catering environment
  • Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
