Kitchen Porter

We’re looking for a Kitchen Porter to join our team at The Brackenrigg Inn.

As part of a team that values connection, flexibility, variety, and challenge, you’ll play an important role in maintaining a welcoming and efficient kitchen environment. From washing and sanitising dishes to supporting ingredient preparation, you’ll be an essential part of our kitchen operations. With care, dedication, and attention to detail, you’ll help keep our kitchen clean and organised, ready to support our creativity with memorable moments and even better food. You’ll also assist with deliveries and a variety of kitchen tasks, gaining valuable insight into the pace and teamwork involved in a busy working kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all kitchen equipment, utensils, and areas are cleaned thoroughly and maintained to a high standard, following food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Keeping floors, work surfaces, and kitchen areas clean, tidy, and safe throughout service to support an efficient and well-organised working environment.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and personal hygiene to the standard required by the hotel and by law.
  • Ensuring full refuse bags are removed and replaced promptly, and that full swing bins are removed and replaced immediately, as well as clearing any spillages.
  • Cleaning the floor area daily and at the Chef’s discretion.
  • Sweeping and cleaning the corridors and passageways through the kitchen.
  • Washing crockery, cutlery and ensuring that work surfaces are clean and tidy.
  • Cleaning all pots in the pot wash area, and maintaining cleanliness of the area.
  • Helping with any preparation needed for daily service.
  • Assisting the smooth running of all aspects of the kitchen and back of house areas.
  • Maintaining an organised, clean and safe workplace for all.
  • Correctly recording all waste in the appropriate method (no member of staff is to remove any item without first checking with a supervisor and completing the kitchen wastage book).
  • Carrying out other duties as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
