The Role

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our kitchens during a busy programme of concerts, sporting events, conferences, exhibitions and live entertainment. Working as part of a fast-paced catering team, you will help maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene while supporting chefs and kitchen staff to deliver outstanding food experiences to our guests.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a team environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is looking to gain valuable experience within a busy hospitality and events operation.

The Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, crockery and glassware.
  • Ensure all kitchen and food preparation areas remain clean, organised and compliant with hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Complete thorough kitchen clean-down procedures following service to ensure the kitchen is ready for future operations.
  • Support chefs and kitchen teams with basic food preparation and general kitchen duties as required.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment safely and effectively, ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored correctly.

What we're looking for

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn within a busy kitchen environment.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
  • A strong team player who can follow instructions, support colleagues and work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff.
  • An understanding of basic health, safety and hygiene practices within a kitchen environment.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
