Job Title: Kitchen Porter
Location: Oxygen House, Exeter
Term: Fixed Term 6 months (contract, with the potential to extend or become permanent)
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, daytime hours only. No weekends.
Salary: £12.71 per hour plus generous company benefits
Start date: Early December 2026
Closing date: Friday 22nd October 2026

OH Kitchen is an organic, vegetable-led kitchen serving the Oxygen House community. We create fresh, seasonal food with a focus on quality, sustainability and great hospitality.
We're looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team on a six-month fixed-term contract. This is a vital role within the kitchen, helping to ensure our chefs have a clean, safe and organised environment in which to deliver exceptional food every day.
Whether you already have kitchen experience or are looking to start a career in catering, we'd love to hear from enthusiastic individuals who take pride in a job well done and enjoy working as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and put away pots, pans, utensils, crockery and kitchen equipment throughout the day.
- Keep kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment and storage areas clean and tidy.
- Receive and store deliveries, ensuring good stock rotation practices are followed.
- Maintain clean and organised fridges, freezers and dry stores.
- Manage waste, recycling and compost streams correctly.
- Use cleaning products safely and follow COSHH guidelines.
- Report any maintenance, hygiene or safety concerns to the Sous Chef.
- Support the wider kitchen team with other reasonable duties as required.

About You
You'll be:
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Comfortable carrying out physical tasks, including lifting deliveries and being on your feet for extended periods.
- Organised and able to work efficiently during busy periods.
- A positive team player who is happy to help wherever needed.
- Someone with high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Proactive and able to spot what needs doing without being asked.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or within a catering environment.
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification.
- Awareness of COSHH and safe chemical handling.
- An interest in sustainability, waste reduction and recycling.
