Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and reliable Kitchen Porter with immediate availability to join our vibrant team at one of the world’s most iconic cultural destinations — The British Museum.

Our cafés and restaurant serve freshly brewed coffee, delicious sandwiches, vibrant salads and indulgent cakes, all made with care and quality. As part of the Benugo family, we pride ourselves on delivering memorable guest experiences, as remarkable as the museum’s world-famous treasures, including the Rosetta Stone.

Availability & Working Hours

This is a 7-day operation, so candidates must have full-time availability and flexibility to work Monday to Sunday

We Offer

  • Rate: £12.71
  • Shifts: 5 days out of 7
  • Contract: Full-time, 6-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension or progression to a permanent role

About the role

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play an essential role in supporting the kitchen team and maintaining high standards:

  • Dishwashing: Cleaning dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment by hand or using industrial dishwashers
  • Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintaining clean and sanitised work areas, including surfaces and food preparation zones; emptying bins and managing waste disposal
  • Inventory Support: Assisting with receiving, storing and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organised and safe, with all equipment in good working order

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar role
  • Physical stamina, with the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Proactive, with the ability to take initiative
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in a fast-paced environment
