The Person

The Role

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchen. You will also be responsible for supporting kitchen staff where needed, handling deliveries and properly storing supplies.

Responsibilities Include

  • Wash, rinse, and sanitise kitchen utensils, dishes, pots, and pans using industrial dishwashing equipment or by hand as necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen by cleaning work surfaces, equipment, and floors regularly
  • Collect and dispose of kitchen waste, recycling, and garbage in a hygienic manner
  • Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper labelling and storage practices
  • Support kitchen staff as needed with basic food prep, such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and assisting in setting up and breaking down kitchen stations
  • Collaborate with chefs, cooks, and fellow kitchen staff to maintain a clean and organised workspace
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including food safety and sanitation standards

Required Skills & Experience

  • High school education or equivalent may be preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils is a plus
  • Prior experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen leadership
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
